Reds' antics infuriate Bruce
22 Jan 2010 - 14:07:44
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has hit out at the "disrespectful" way he believes Liverpool are attempting to unsettle star striker Kenwyne Jones.
Jones, 25, is reported to be wanted by Reds boss Rafael Benitez this month as he looks to bolster his goal-shy strikeforce.
However, Bruce is unhappy about the way the Trinidad & Tobago international has had his head turned despite there being no official contact between the two clubs.
"I find it hugely disrespectful, the antics of Liverpool," he fumed.
"I have huge respect for Liverpool and the way they have done their business and they way they have conducted themselves."
Bruce is particularly upset at the latest reports which suggest that Jones could join Liverpool on loan with a view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
He continued: "I have to say, this constant badgering of Kenwyne Jones when we as a club haven't heard anything - and then I keep reading this nonsense that I'm going to allow him to go on loan because it's a tax advantage for both clubs - is the biggest load of rubbish I have read for weeks.
"As if I'm got to let our big, big player - one of our big, big assets - go on loan.
"I find it hugely disrespectful and I can't understand where Liverpool are coming from."
