Quinn preparing for celebrations

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has vowed to build on the club's rich history as the Black Cats prepare to celebrate their 130th birthday.[LNB]Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with Liverpool will see the Wearsiders reach the landmark with optimism rising for a new era under current owner Ellis Short.[LNB]It was Quinn who fronted the Drumaville consortium which took over from former chairman Bob Murray at the Stadium of Light in 2006, and he is delighted to be celebrating the anniversary 130 years to the day since the club was formed in 1879.[LNB]He told the club's official website: "Sunderland AFC has a long and proud history and 130 years is a fantastic milestone for this club. The passion of this region for its club remains magnificent to this day as we position ourselves amongst the very best clubs in England.[LNB]"We look to continue what Mr Allan started and we have a club to be proud of with fantastic facilities and bags of potential on and off the pitch.[LNB]"It is fitting that the Stadium of Light will host such a mouth-watering game this weekend. I'm sure there will be a bumper crowd and a fantastic atmosphere."
