Poyet - There Is A Way To Safety!

04 December 2013 01:39
Sunderland, of course, are currently scrapping at the business end of the table, where .

.  they remain five points from safety despite a significant upturn in results since the Uruguayan's arrival in October.

Newcastle and Manchester City have both left Wearside pointless with the Saints also bowing out of the Capital One Cup, and while an extension of that run may sound a tall order, that is exactly what Gus Poyet is targeting.

He said: "We know they are one of the best teams in the country and that we need to be very, very good.

"We are going to have to compete, defend well. I don't know how many chances we are going to create because they are one of the teams which defends the best in England, so there are plenty of things we need to be good at.

"But we all believe it is possible, especially after beating Manchester City at home. That shows you there is a way and hopefully we can repeat something like that."
