Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon is to undergo surgery to remove a metal plate from his arm.[LNB] The 27-year-old Scotland international will have an operation after Sunday's final Premier League game of the season at Wolves to remove the plate, which was inserted after he suffered a fracture in a collision with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe in November.[LNB]He will then spend part of his summer break back on Wearside rehabilitating before the start of the new campaign.[LNB]Gordon told the club's official website: "I will have the operation to get the plate out and then I will be in the hands of the physios here for my rehab, however long that will take.[LNB]"Hopefully, I will be fully fit and ready to participate in pre-season training."[LNB]Gordon was out of action for more than two months, but returned for the FA Cup fourth-round defeat at Portsmouth on January 23 and has been the man in possession ever since.[LNB]Indeed, the £9million signing has produced some of his best displays to date for the club in recent months.
