'Poppy Boy' Starts For Irish

James McClean will be given a rare start for the Republic of Ireland against World Cup holders Spain in New York tonight.

The Sunderland winger is set to take the place of Aiden McGeady, ironically a possible summer transfer target for Sunderland, who is getting married this weekend.

But John O’Shea won’t play as he’s been excused from the challenge match because of a family bereavement, while Sunderland keeper Keiren Westwood is out with a minor injury.

McClean is in the shop window, as it is thought Di Canio will listen to offers for him during the transfer window.
