Player Details

Stephane Sessegnon is a versatile attacking player who signed for Sunderland in the January 2011 transfer window. Previously known as a player who was comfortable in any of the midfield positions, an injury crisis at the Stadium of Light saw him pushed forward into the role of a deep-lying secondary striker, where his willingness to use his pace to run at defenders was used to best effect. Very strong on the ball, and with tremendous close control, he proved extremely difficult to dispossess and went on to score three times towards the end of the season. Stephane began his career in Benin before making the move to France, where he played for Creteil, Le Mans and Paris Saint Germain. He found himself on the bench for PSG during the first half of the 2010-11 campaign before switching to the Premier League. Stephane represents Benin at international level and has played more than 30 times for his country.
