Carlos Cuellar is an experienced defender who joined Aston Villa in August 2008. Carlos began his career in the lower divisions of the Spanish League with Calahora and Numancia before stepping up to La Liga with Osasuna. He then enjoyed a successful season with Rangers in 2007-08, winning the Player of the Year awards from both the SPL and the Scottish Football Writers' Association. After a quiet start at Villa Park he has become a first-team regular either at right back or in central defence. An uncompromising defender, Carlos is fierce in the tackle and dominates in the air. Injury restricted his appearances in 2010-11, but he was highly praised for his Man of the Match performance in the Premier League win at Wolves.
