Summer loving: Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse is a transfer target for Greek outfit Panathinaikos Panathinaikos want to scupper Sunderland's hopes of signing Djibril Cisse. The Black Cats want to keep the French striker, providing they avoid relegation, but the £9million Marseille are asking is a massive stumbling block. But the Greek giants are prepared to meet that figure and offer the 27-year-old a big money deal. Cisse has become a terrace hero at the Stadium of Light this season, scoring 10 goals since moving back to England. And it is believed his preference is to remain in the Premier League, with Hull and Portsmouth also monitoring his situation. However, Panathinaikos will probably be able to offer Cisse Champions League football as they are currently second in the Greek league. Marseille are looking to get him off their wage bill and with Sunderland not certain of their future, the door is open for others to make their move.
