Pana complete Cisse swoop
Panathinaikos have confirmed the signing of French striker Djibril Cisse on a four-year contract. Cisse joins from Marseille to put an end to the speculation about his future that has been rife for some time. The 27-year-old spent last season on loan with Sunderland and it was initially thought that he would stay at the Stadium of Light on a permanent basis. The Black Cats turned down the opportunity to keep Cisse and Panathinaikos have now held off competition from a number of other clubs to secure his signature. After holding talks with Pana president Nikos Pateras, the former Liverpool man passed his medical on Friday afternoon and penned the deal. "Panathinaikos announces that it has reached an agreement with Djibril Cisse over a contract for four years," the Greek club confirmed on their official website. Although no financial details have been revealed, Marseille will reportedly receive around €8million euros (£6.8m) for Cisse. It is also understood that Cisse will earn approximately €2.5million per year - making him the club's most highly-paid player ever.
