Serie A outfit Palermo have announced that they will not be pursuing their interest in Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand.[LNB] It was revealed last week that Ferdinand was considering a move to the Italian club after falling down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light.[LNB]Talks were held over a possible loan switch or permanent deal, but Palermo have now decided they do not need the central defender.[LNB]Maribor defender Armin Bacinovic was also tipped to join Palermo, but sporting director Walter Sabatini says the Sicilians are well covered at the back.[LNB]Ferdinand will now have to review his options as he vies with the likes of John Mensah, Titus Bramble and Nedum Onuoha for a place in the Sunderland side.[LNB]"Anton Ferdinand and Bacinovic were offered to us, but even though they are two good players we have not considered their purchase," Sabatini told TGS.[LNB]"Anton Ferdinand is a physically strong defender that we like, but we decided to give up because we don't need another central defender."
