Nyron Nosworthy has penned a new contract at Sunderland which will tie him to the club until 2012. The experienced defender, who joined the Black Cats from Gillingham in 2005, joins Jordan Henderson and Trevor Carson in committing his future to the North East outfit. Nosworthy has made over 100 appearances for Sunderland during his time at the Stadium of Light and remains an important part of Steve Bruce's plans. "Nyron knows this club inside out and is a hugely popular member of the squad," Bruce told the club's official website. "He has impressed me since I came here in the summer. "He has a great work ethic and typifies the physically strong presence that a good team needs in the Premier League so I'm delighted he has committed his future to Sunderland."
