Norwich v Sunderland preview
Paulo Da Silva is in line to make his Sunderland debut in the Carling Cup second round as Paul Lambert looks to maintain his winning start as Norwich City manager.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is targeting the Carling Cup as a source of silverware for the club, but is expected to make several changes from Saturday's 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers.
Bruce has fitness concerns over a handful of players and will assess the bumps and bruises before he names his team to run out at Carrow Road, live on Sky Sports 1 & HD1.
"We have got hundreds, hundreds. I wouldn't know where to start, to be honest," said Bruce regarding the injury situation.
"But I will have to make changes on Monday because we have played four games, if you have played an international, in nine days, which is totally ridiculous at the start of the season.
"We have got a few tired bodies, but we will go from there."
However, Bruce is still treating the competition seriously, saying: "It's practically impossible for us to try to win the Premier League, but the one thing we can do is win a cup competition.
"It's five, six games and you never know, the luck of the draw and all the rest of it. I am going to take that as seriously as I can."
Summer signing Da Silva is expected to make his debut and the Paraguay captain could be partnered in the centre of defence by Nyron Nosworthy.
Goalkeeper Craig Gordon could be given a chance to replace Marton Fulop, who had been a doubt to face Blackburn, while David Meyler (ankle) and Paul McShane (knee) are definitely out.
The Black Cats went into Saturday's game with fitness doubts over Lee Cattermole, Lorik Cana and Steed Malbranque, but the midfield trio all played.
Norwich manager Paul Lambert has no fresh injury concerns for the game after starting his reign with a 5-2 victory over Wycombe Wanderers.
Lambert made six changes for his first game in charge and the writing appears to already be on the wall for a number of players brought in by former boss Bryan Gunn.
Michael Theoklitos, Matthew Gill, Michael Nelson, Owain Tudur Jones and Simon Whaley did not even make the matchday 18 against the Chairboys while captain Gary Doherty was demoted to the bench.
Teenage midfielder Korey Smith was given a shock start and scored while Grant Holt celebrated being given the captaincy with a brace.
Lambert's only injury concerns are Rhoys Wiggins (knee), Kris Renton (foot) and Damon Lathrope (broken arm).
