Borini joined Liverpool for £10.5m 15 months ago, and is expected to return to Anfield next summer.
The 22-year-old’s agent, Marco De Marchi: “His move to Sunderland materialised in the last hours of the transfer window, but he does not regret it.
“There were so many ups and downs during the start (of his loan). Things like that can happen during a season.
“But changing the coach has not changed his way of training and playing.
“Fabio is thinking only about training and doing his best for the team.”
