Moyes impressed by Cats’ revival

EVERTON boss David Moyes is impressed by how quickly Steve Bruce has revived Sunderland's campaign. But he knows he must now stop them in their tracks again.[LNB] The mood on Wearside plummeted when the Black Cats lost 5-1 to Newcastle.[LNB] But Sunderland have hit back with a three-game unbeaten run culminating in last week's 3-0 defeat of Chelsea.[LNB] That was a great result for Sunderland,'' said Moyes, who takes his side to the Stadium of Light tonight.[LNB] After the Newcastle game I think a lot of people were ridiculing them and putting them down, but there is only one way back and that is to go out and do it on the field.[LNB] Steve has turned them around very quickly.[LNB] I don't think they were ever a bad team. They had a bad result against Newcastle but they made sure they put that right.[LNB] As a manager you now want a similar performance but we don't want them to have a similar performance.[LNB] We need to go there and be hard to play against and cause them problems.[LNB] I am sure Steve will be thinking if he could get more of the same from his team that is all he could ask.'' Everton's own recovery from a poor start to the season has slowed this month.[LNB] Draws against Blackpool and Bolton extended an unbeaten run to seven games but after losing to Arsenal last week the Toffees have not won in three.[LNB] Everton had leapt from the bottom of the table to eighth during October but, with little between the clubs, have slipped back towards the bottom three.[LNB] Moyes said: We had been on a decent run but then had the defeat last Sunday.[LNB] Arsenal are a good team but it was still close, we still had a chance. The games have been tight, even against the so-called top teams.[LNB] I have seen it in a lot of the games in the Premier League where it is not always going to par. You might see one or two more results like that.'' History is in Everton's favour as they head to the North-East, Moyes' side having won 10 and drawn two of their last 12 meetings against Sunderland.[LNB] Moyes did not realise his team had such a good record against the Wearsiders because he always finds them tough opponents.[LNB] He said: You don't really think much of that.[LNB] You just go there and get on with your job.[LNB] I hope if it is a good record at Sunderland we can keep it going.[LNB] But I think the supporters up there will certainly get behind their team.[LNB] They have seen their team come back from being really down and turn things around.[LNB] We know we are going to have a tough game we always do playing Steve's teams. It's always hard.[LNB] But we have played OK this season. We are not in the position we would like to be but we have done a lot of good things.'' To come away from the Stadium of Light with three points, Moyes knows his defence will have to keep the likes of Darren Bent and Asamoah Gyan quiet.[LNB] The club's two top goalscorers have hit the net 14 times between them this season.[LNB] Moyes said: Sunderland have got some really exciting forwards they have spent on their forwards.[LNB] They have also got one or two on loan, so they have tried to have a go for it.'' The Sunderland forwards' proficiency in front of goal is in marked contrast to the situation at Everton.[LNB] Only two league goals have been scored by Everton strikers one each by Ayegbeni Yakubu and Jermaine Beckford.[LNB] With that in mind, Moyes has expressed interest in bringing American Landon Donovan back to Goodison Park after a successful loan last season.[LNB] When asked if he would like to re-sign him, Moyes said: We would be, we have said it every time I get asked.''[LNB]
