Missed 'Sitter' From McClean Has Players Worried!

Stephane Sessegnon says Sunderland must find a solution to their slide to the fringes of the relegation scrap.

James McClean blazed over the bar from six yards out in the dying minutes, and that was the end of the revival.

Benin international Sessegnon knows it is a pattern which is proving costly.

Stephane Sessegnon: “We had chance after chance, but at the end of the day, we lost.

“It’s unfortunate because I think we deserved to get something.

“But it’s a familiar story. That’s what happens. Football can be difficult.

“At the start of the season, we had some difficulties creating chances.

“Now we’ve begun to do that, but if they come along, we’ve got to improve in taking them.

“It was the same in the last few matches. We’ve had lots of chances, but if you miss them, you lose. We need to start winning games again.

“We’ve lost our last three Premier League games and that’s a sequence which we need to end.

“The chance at the end for McClean was a bit like the match for us.

“You’ve got to take your opportunities at key points in the game if you want to get something.

“It’s a shame because we played well at a difficult place.

“We should have had a penalty ourselves which would have eased our disappointment.

“We responded well to it in the second half, but we didn’t manage to get an equaliser and then they went 2-0 in front.

“That made it hard, because at 1-0, we still had the possibility of going on to win the game.

“But at 2-0, it left us with too much to do.

“We still had the chances to make 2-2 though and that would probably have been fair.

“But it’s obviously something we need to change in the next match.”
