Sunderland manager Roy Keane has placed former Celtic and Manchester United midfielder Liam Miller on the transfer list.

The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international has made 52 appearances for the Wearsiders since moving to the Stadium of Light from United in August 2006.

Miller's last game for the club was the 3-0 defeat at Liverpool earlier this month while he was sent off in the 2-0 loss against Chelsea two weeks before Christmas.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Sunderland have announced that Liam Miller has been put on the club's transfer list.

"The Irish midfielder has been told he can look for a new club.

"Transfer regulations mean the player is only available for an emergency loan move to a Football League club during this season.

"A permanent transfer is not permitted until after the season, in May when the transfer window reopens."

Ross Wallace, David Connolly, Ian Harte, Stephen Wright, Graham Kavanagh, Greg Halford and Stanislav Varga are also currently on Sunderland's transfer list.
