Mensah move edges closer
Steve Bruce has revealed that he hopes to have John Mensah at Sunderland in the next 48 hours. The Black Cats believe a deal for the Lyon defender is close and envisage no problems in pushing the agreement through. The Ghana star is set to move to the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan deal, with the option to make that switch permanent next summer. Mensah's agent revealed on Saturday that he expected a deal to be completed early this week, and Bruce has now confirmed that he shares that view. "It's fair to say that we are close to agreeing a deal," he said. "I'll hopefully know more in the next 24-48 hours, but we hope so." Bruce is keen to further bolster his defensive options as Paraguay international Paulo Da Silva is yet to reach full match fitness after administrative problems delayed his move to England.
