Mensah could make it

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is hopeful defender John Mensah will be available for the home Barclays Premier League clash with West Ham on Sunday. The Ghanaian returned to action ahead of schedule at Wolves last weekend following a dislocated shoulder and played all but the last eight minutes. Bruce's options in central defence have been severely limited by serious knee injuries to Michael Turner and Titus Bramble, but at least it seems Mensah will not return to the sidelines. "John took another whack on his bad shoulder on Saturday but we think he'll be okay," the Black Cats boss told the club`s official website. "I thought John did okay (at Wolves) considering what he's had. Him making himself available is a testament to the boy."
