Mensah completes medical
Skysports.com understands that John Mensah has moved a step closer to joining Sunderland after completing a medical on Thursday.
The Lyon defender has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Stade Gerland and has since attracted attention from the Black Cats.
Details of the deal have not yet been confirmed, but it has previously been suggested that Mensah will initially sign on a one-year loan with the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old Ghana international is thought to be excited by the prospect of playing football in the Premier League.
Sunderland are set make the specifics of Mensah's contract clear on Friday.
