The Scots are calling it a day of celebration as national hero James 'Faddy' 'Faddinator' 'King of Paris' McFadden snubs Sunderland to sign for Motherwell.

The Fir Park boardroom have trying to secure a deal to take James McFadden back to his old club for the remainder of the season.

Manager Stuart McCall has been in discussions for several  days with the 29-year-old and has sorted out a move back to his old club for the remainder of the season.

The Scotland winger, who is a free agent, had other options south of the border with Sunderland.

But the Lanarkshire club’s chiefs have been working on the finances to try to piece together a package to seal the signing of their former cult hero.

And now the Scottish winger has finalised his move back to Fir Park and may be ready to play as early as Tuesday against Dundee United.

McFadden wants regular football, something he has not been given at the Stadium of Light with just 34 minutes in a red and white shirt, as he strives for more international recognition.
