McCarthy's unhappy return
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy did not feel his men got what they deserved as he left former club Sunderland on the end of a 5-2 hiding.
With Sunderland strikers Darren Bent and Kenwyne Jones in rampant form, the Premier League newcomers were unable to keep the pace.
But McCarthy was proud of the way his side came back from 2-0 down to pull level at 2-2, before eventually falling away.
He said: "I feel very proud of the performance. Hard done to? We had done everything to get back into the game.
"I did ask the players, I said: `Do you think at 2-2 I should have taken a striker off and put another midfield player on and shored it up?', and they all said: 'No'.
"I'm pleased they said that because it was never going to happen. I thought we had the by game by the scruff of the neck at that point and could have won it. But it was their day."
