Mackems clear up confusion

Sunderland have moved to clarify the name of their signing from Egypt. Midfielder Ahmed Al-Muhammadi arrived at the Stadium of Light from ENPPI on a season-long loan deal earlier this summer and played through pre-season under that name. However, he made his Barclays Premier League debut against Birmingham on Saturday wearing the name "Elmohamady" on his shirt. The Black Cats confirmed today that the player had requested to be known as Ahmed Elmohamady and was registered with the authorities as such.
