Let him be - FA overturn wipe out ban for Sunderland defender McCartney

Sunderland full-back George McCartney has had the red card he receivedin Sunday's defeat at Manchester City rescinded by the FA - as predicted by Sportsmail. The Northern Ireland international was sent off after just 15minutes at Eastlands with referee Steve Tanner, after consultation withhis assistant Mo Matadar, adjudging McCartney to have pulled back ShaunWright-Phillips when the City winger burst through on goal. Had the dismissal been upheld McCartney would have missed out on areturn to his former club West Ham. But he will now be free to play atUpton Park on April 4.
