Keane waits on Kenwyne scan

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones could be forced to endure another spell on the sidelines after twisting his knee during training.

The 24-year-old former Southampton forward only returned to action less than three weeks ago after spending almost five months on the sidelines.

He suffered a knee ligament injury while on international duty with Trinidad & Tobago at the beginning of June.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane said: "We'll know better in the next 24 to 48 hours what the news is on Kenwyne.

"He's going to have a scan and we really won't be able to say until after we've had the results back from that, what the state of play is."

Jones is wanted by his country for a World Cup qualifier next week, but Keane added: "Kenwyne hasn't had much football at all since coming back from injury, so we really will have to look at that one.

"But the bottom line is very simple. If he isn't playing for us he certainly won't be playing for anyone else."
