    Keane vows Carlos patience

    15 Oct 2007 - 11:11:36

Sunderland boss Roy Keane has revealed injured winger Carlos Edwards is still three weeks away from a first-team return.

The Trinidad & Tobago international has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring tear in the 2-2 Premier League draw with Birmingham City on August 15.

But while Edwards has being training with his team-mates in the past few weeks, the former Luton Town wideman is still some way off full fitness according to Keane.

"We're still looking at another three weeks or so," he told the club's official website.

"We're doing everything we can. It's just one of those hamstring ones where it can be quite complicated.

"Carlos has seen a specialist. The positive news is that he can keep doing the recovery work that he's doing, we just to be a little more patient.

"Maybe the last time he came back too quickly. We have to be more patient with him."

Edwards joined the Black Cats for £1.4million in January and helped the club clinch last season's Championship table.
