Keane makes Musampa wait
05 Oct 2007 - 07:21:07
Sunderland boss Roy Keane has yet to make a decision on whether to offer trialist Kiki Musampa a contract with the Black Cats.
The 30-year-old former Manchester City winger played for Sunderland's reserves in midweek against his former club, with Keane still weighing up a possible contract offer.
He told the club's official website: "I watched the game on Tuesday, he did okay and I'll probably give him a decision over the next 48 hours.
"Until I speak to the player it would be unfair for me to say what I want to do."
Meanwhile, Keane has praised the form of midfielder Grant Leadbitter in recent weeks.
He told the Sunderland Echo: "We missed Grant at the start of this season when he was out of action with a hamstring injury and, in truth, he is probably still getting up to speed.
"He's a player I certainly didn't want to throw straight back in to playing full games, because I know the dangers of doing that with someone who has just come back from a hamstring problem.
"But his performances have left me little choice. He's scored a couple of goals, he takes decent set-pieces and he's a young lad who is learning all the time by playing week-in, week-out."
