    Keane eyes McShane deal

    26 Jul 2007 - 17:38:06

Sunderland manager Roy Keane is confident that he will be able to seal a deal to bring West Brom defender Paul McShane to Wearside next week.

Keane has been frustrated in his attempts to land Leighton Baines and Craig Gordon this summer, but fully expects there to be no problem in signing McShane.

He told the Black Cats' official website: "We're in talks with West Brom and we hope that one will come through.

"Paul's a player I know and like, he's a good character. Hopefully he'll be here but again I don't like talking about it until it happens.

"We need a stronger squad, there's no doubt about that, and hopefully Paul will come through the door in the next few days.

"We're still looking to bring one or two in, we're working hard and we're hopeful."

The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international moved to The Hawthorns last summer and made 42 first-team appearances for the Baggies.
