Sunderland have announced that former Manchester United legend Roy Keane has signed a three-year contract to become their new manager.
The 35-year-old Irishman was confirmed as the new man in charge of the Black Cats, after watching his charges win their first game of the season, 2-0 at home to West Bromwich Albion.
Chairman Niall Quinn told the club's official website: "This represents a major coup for our football club.
"The fact that one of the most influential figures in world football is willing to come and help unlock the massive potential here should make all Sunderland fans very happy and excited for the future.
"Roy Keane's standards of professionalism are legendary and his desire and determination to succeed are precisely what this club requires."
