Kavanagh keen to move

Sunderland manager Roy Keane has confirmed that he is likely to allow midfielder Graham Kavanagh to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old Irishman is currently back with the Black Cats after a loan stint at Sheffield Wednesday, but is wanted by a number of clubs according to Keane.

He told The Gazette: "There has been more interest in Kav and I will probably sit down with him next week to talk it through.

"It's a difficult one, because as much as I want to keep him, I know that he wants to play football and Kav is not the only one in that situation here.

"He enjoyed his games at Sheffield Wednesday, but there have been several other clubs in touch about him since.

"With Kav's experience, I don't know if a loan would be a big benefit for him. It was fine when he was coming back from injury, but he doesn't need to go out and prove himself now.

"It's something we'll have to look at, but I have no problem with players who might want a move so they can play games.

"Top pros want to go out and play and Kav is certainly one of those."
