Jordan sparks for Bruce
Manager Steve Bruce has promised Sunderland starlet Jordan Henderson he has a glittering career ahead of him. The 19-year-old local boy will hope for another start in the Carling Cup third-round clash with Birmingham at the Stadium of Light after forcing his way into the first-team reckoning this season. He was thrown in at the deep end for the first home game of the campaign at home to Chelsea on August 18 and also started at Norwich in the previous round of the League Cup, while he has appeared as a substitute in four of the club's other five games to date. That is an illustration of how highly Bruce rates the midfielder and while he may have to be patient, he has been assured his chance will come. Bruce said: "He's got a marvellous career ahead of him, Jordan, that's for sure. I am absolutely convinced about that. He has played in the vast majority of the games - he would have come on [against Hull] last week if Phil [Bardsley] hadn't picked up an injury so he has been involved in all the Premier League games. "I really, really think highly of him, so he will wait his chance and when he gets it, I am sure he will be difficult to dislodge."
