Jones warning for England
30 May 2008 - 13:13:38
Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones believes Trinidad & Tobago will provide England with tougher opposition than the USA when the sides meet in Port of Spain on Sunday.
Jones, who netted eight goals for the Black Cats last season, is expected to spearhead the home attack despite struggling with a wrist injury in recent weeks.
The powerful striker has warned England that they can expect a tougher encounter than in Wednesday's 2-0 friendly win over the US at Wembley.
England were 2-0 winners over Trinidad & Tobago in the group stages of the 2006 World Cup after late goals from Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard.
"I think we are going to see a very good game and I know all of Trinidad wants us to beat England this time around because we were seven minutes away from getting a point when we met them in 2006," said Jones.
"I'm feeling good at the moment and we've come through a good week of preparation for the match.
"England are coming off a win against the States, but I think on Sunday it's going to be a different ball game.
"Both teams I think will give a good showing and it should be a treat for the fans."
