Jones targets Cats impact

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones insists he is fully-fit and raring to go after making a surprise return from injury in the Carling Cup.

The Trinidad & Tobago striker was a surprise starter in Wednesday's 2-1 fourth round defeat to Blackburn Rovers as he had suffered a reaction to a knee injury which kept him out of action for six months during training last week.

Jones was given the go-ahead to play after consulting specialists and last season's top-scorer claims he is ready to kick-start his season after a frustrating spell on the sidelines.

"Even when I hurt myself slightly last week, I was sure it would be okay," claimed the striker.

"For safety reasons, I went to see the specialist and he confirmed everything is fine.

"I think the management and the medical staff were more worried about it than I was.

"I have had experience with the injury now and I always had faith that what happened in training last week was nothing major.

"Everything worked out and now I'm just concentrating on pushing on."
