Jenas shrugs off exit talk

Jermaine Jenas has distanced himself from reports suggesting he could be on his way out of Tottenham. The England international has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with Sunderland, Aston Villa and Inter Milan all said to be keen on acquiring his services. Jenas, though, insists he has no desire to leave White Hart Lane and is confident he will still be at the club come the start of the new season. "It is all rumour to be honest," he said. "I am happy at Tottenham and it happens in football. "There comes a time when the transfer window opens and people start talking. It happens." Jenas believes Tottenham are a club heading in the right direction, with Harry Redknapp having helped to bring stability back to the North London outfit. Exciting The former Newcastle and Nottingham Forest midfielder feels European qualification should now be the target for the club this season, especially as top talent in the form of Peter Crouch and Kyle Naughton has been added to already promising squad. "I think finishing in Europe would be a definite goal for us," the 26-year-old added. "We have definitely got the squad that is capable of doing that. "We are going to have to be competing with likes of Man City, Arsenal, Villa while Fulham were in there last year so we are going to have a lot of competition. "Crouchy has come in and Kyle has come in, he is very confident for a young lad, while we know enough about Crouchy and what he is going to give us. "These are exciting times."
