Ireland door open for Reid
14 Oct 2008 - 08:08:58
Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni insists the international door remains open for Sunderland midfielder Andy Reid.
The 26-year-old winger has not made an appearance since the veteran Italian took over in May.
However, Trapattoni has denied reports of a fall-out with the former Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Charlton Athletic midfielder.
"The most important thing is the players, but no, I don't have any problems with anybody," he said.
"I choose in all honesty and I choose thinking about the interests of the team.
"I don't understand why Andy Reid is more important than other situations.
"We have been here four months and we have played with another team.
"I have said many, many times, we are very, very offensive.
"With two strikers, with (Aiden) McGeady, with (Damien) Duff, with also (Stephen) Hunt, we are very, very offensive."
