    Hutton wins partial reprieve

    27 Apr 2010 - 15:40:45

Sunderland defender Alan Hutton has had his three-match ban reduced to one game by the Football Association.

An independent Regulatory Commission ruled that the former Rangers defender, who is currently on loan at the Stadium of Light from Tottenham, should only miss one match following his red card in the win at Hull City over the weekend.

A brief statement on the FA's official website read: "Following his dismissal for violent conduct in the fixture, a Commission has found the claim upheld and has reduced the sanction to a one-match suspension to begin with immediate effect."

Hutton was sent off on the stroke of half-time at the KC Stadium following an angry confrontation with Hull striker Jozy Altidore. He threw the ball at the Tigers striker who reacted by aiming a headbutt at the Scotland international.

The Black Cats went on to win 1-0 - their first away victory since the opening week of the Premier League season - but Hutton will now miss only this weekend's Premier League clash against Manchester United.
