Sunderland target Stephen Hunt has revealed a desire to remain in the Premier League.
The Republic of Ireland international was relegated with Reading at the end of the last season, but has now spoken of how he wants to remain in the top-flight.
The Black Cats failed with two bids to sign the 26-year-old midfielder during the January transfer window.
Hunt joined the Royals from Brentford in 2005 and has made over 125 first-team appearances.
"It is a short career and fans would appreciate it more if players were more honest about these things," Hunt told The Sun.
"Anyone who says they don't want to be in the Premier League is lying.
"It's not that people are unhappy but fans aren't stupid. It makes more sense if they know what's going on."
