Henderson commits to Cats

Teenage midfielder Jordan Henderson has penned a new long-term contract with Sunderland.

The 19-year-old will now remain at the Stadium of Light until the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

Henderson has come through the club's youth team ranks and is now regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the country.

He made his first-team debut for the Black Cats when he came on as a substitute in the 5-0 defeat at Chelsea 11 months ago and has gone on to feature in 11 games for the club.

He spent part of last season on loan at Coventry Citym featuring in 13 matches for the Sky Blues.

Sunderland have also confirmed that two more players are on the verge of agreeing new contracts with the club.
