Henderson hoping develop with Cats
Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson is hoping to build on his performances for England Under-21s at club level.[LNB] The 20-year-old Black Cats starlet recently played a key role in seeing Stuart Pearce's Under-21s secure qualification for next year's European Championships at the expense of Romania.[LNB]Henderson does not yet see himself as a regular at the Stadium of Light, but is keen to keep pushing for his place in the starting XI.[LNB]"I didn't make my debut for the under-21s until a month or two ago, which was a great achievement, and I've been lucky enough to stay in the squad," he said in The Sun. "I don't regard myself as a regular yet at Sunderland. I must keep pushing for my place."[LNB]Henderson has made seven appearances in the Premier League for Steve Bruce's side this term, as he looks to establish himself as a recognised top-flight player.[LNB]He admits playing domestically is different to representing England, and hopes to prove as successful as midfielders Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard in the future.[LNB]"It's a bit different playing for club and country, just the way that we play the game," he added.[LNB]"For England you get more time on the ball. The style of play is different.[LNB]"When you play in the Premier League against Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United you spend most of the time chasing the ball. You have to take your chances when you get them.[LNB]"I don't score many so I enjoy it when I do. It is something I'm working on and hopefully I'll get a lot more in the future.[LNB]"It is vital to get goals from midfield. The likes of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard come up with 15 to 20 goals a season. That's what I need to do."
