HATCHET MAN: (Credit) crunch time for Cisse as striker sets his sights on staying in England

03 March 2009 10:46
Djibril Cisse is apparently desperate to stay in the Premier League next  term and he doesn't care at which club. Quelle surprise. On loan at Sunderland from Marseille for a season, the Frenchman has hardly set  the League alight with his goals or his style. Show me the money: Cisse fancies staying in the Premier League Cisse has only scored 10 times in 27 appearances and despite previously  flopping at Liverpool the striker claims England has won his heart. More from Hatchet Man... HATCHET MAN: Saha has to put injury hell behind him for Everton to hit the heights 03/03/09 HATCHET MAN: Newcastle must bring a manager in NOW or face up to life in the Championship 03/03/09 HATCHET MAN: Rafa rues his casualty list but making a mess in the transfer market cost Liverpool the title 03/03/09 Hatchet man: QPR owners should give Sousa the time they were promising 02/03/09 Hatchet man: Stumbling Brown matches Geovanni with a tantrum of his own 02/03/09 Hatchet man: Carling Cup final Fan-O-Meter was nothing to shout about 02/03/09 Hatchet man: Rio's in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks Jose is fit to replace Fergie 02/03/09 Hatchet man: Redknapp and O'Neill left with egg on their faces Or might that just be his wallet? Cisse is on £90,000-a-week at Marseille and they are desperate to get him off their wage bill. Sunderland don't think they can afford to sign him at that level but where else other than in the Premier League are clubs going to be desperate enough to pay that sort of money for a guy who runs fast, looks silly and occasionally scores? No wonder he loves it here.
