RECORD-SIGNING Asamoah Gyan still believes he can form a deadly partnership with fellow striker Darren Bent - despite revealing the pair rarely train together.[LNB] The duo started their first game together in Sunday's 1-0 win over West Ham at the Stadium of Light but the partnership failed to make a big impact.[LNB] Until recently, Bruce had favoured playing a lone striker despite several calls for him to partner Bent and Gyan together, but since he switched to 4-4-2, the Black Cats have seen an improvement in form.[LNB] Although they started together on Sunday, the Ghanaian revealed he and Bent usually train on opposite teams but admitted they needed to work on their partnership.[LNB] "Although we don't normally play together in training I hope it continues," the £13m man said.[LNB] "We need to get used to the partnership. We're getting on well although we don't normally play together in training.[LNB] "We're normally on different sides playing with other people. But I hope it continues in the matches. We need to see how the partnership works.[LNB] "It's all going well. Against Wolves I played a couple of minutes with him and it worked a bit, I made an assist and he got a great finish."[LNB] One problem Sunderland have had this season is their over reliance on Bent to score goals and although Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson have chipped in recently, Gyan insists goals need to come from all areas of the pitch if they want to fulfill their ambitions this season.[LNB] "It's a team game," Gyan said.[LNB] "Personally I don't think of scoring on my own all the time. Sometimes in hectic times you have to set up other people to score.[LNB] "If you have it in your mind that you're the only person who's going to score it's not going to work that way.[LNB] "You are playing as a team, it's a collective work. If I don't score I make sure someone else does and the team gets better.[LNB] "It's great that the goals are starting to be spread out a bit more. As a[LNB] team individuals need to be scoring because if one person keeps on scoring the team doesn't go anywhere.[LNB] "That's why it's called a team. If you are playing as a team anyone can score as a team. In teams like Barcelona anyone can score. If we keep on doing that we will go places."[LNB] Gyan also added it was important that the Black Cats bounced back from the defeat to Wolves with a win over the Hammers to cement their top half position.[LNB] "We knew we needed a win to stabilise in seventh place," Gyan added. "We lost the previous week and we had to come back, so the win over West Ham was very important for us.[LNB] "We are looking at the league table now and looking to win a lot of games. At the end of the season we will see where we are. We are not looking at a specific position."[LNB] *Sunderlands away trip to Stoke City on Saturday, February 5 has been selected for Sky television coverage and will now kick-off at 12:45pm.[LNB]
