Sunderland manager Roy Keane hopes to have Craig Gordon back in goal for Wednesday's Premier League clash against Stoke City.
The former Hearts goalkeeper injured his ankle in training last week and missed the 2-1 derby victory against Newcastle United.
Hungary international Marton Fulop deputised for Gordon in the Tyne-Wear clash but Keane told the Black Cats' official website: "I'd say Craig's 50-50 for the game.
"Someone said that Saturday was the first game he's missed through injury for something like eight years, which is incredible.
"We keep talking about the squad of players we've got and we're lucky to have Marton.
"He was ready for Saturday. He's played a couple of games recently for his international team, he's looked sharp in training and he's a good pro.
"I'll have no problems throwing him in against Stoke. If Mart was to play to play, fantastic."
