Gordon eager for Jambos reunion

Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon is desperately hoping to face former former club Hearts on Saturday to bid a proper farewell to the fans. Gordon has so far not played this pre-season following knee surgery required in May, but the 26-year-old is close to a return. Although ruled out of Scotland's World Cup qualifier in Norway next week, Gordon is looking to play some part in the game at Tynecastle to build up his fitness ahead of the start of the new Barclays Premier League campaign a week later. More importantly for Gordon, the match will give him a chance to say thanks to the supporters as he did not have the opportunity to do so two years ago prior to his £9million move. "When I saw the fixture first announced, I was hoping everything would be cleared up by then," Gordon told Hearts News. "It would be lovely for me to play at Tynecastle again, to go back and see some of the people I left behind. "Pre-season friendlies don't really mean anything but going back to the club would be great, in particular as I never got the chance to say goodbye to the fans. There was the Barcelona game at Murrayfield, but I wasn't entirely sure what was going to happen after that. "It was only the night before the Hibs game, which I was due to play in at the start of the season, that I eventually knew I would be moving. So it would be great to go back for all the support they gave me and the team during the years I spent there. Hopefully I'll be at Tynecastle, whether I am playing or not."
