Craig Gordon faces an anxious wait to discover whether his season is over after injuring his knee prior to the defeat at West Brom.[LNB] The Sunderland goalkeeper has had a torrid time with injuries this term after a persistent ankle problem has forced him to miss up to five months of the campaign.[LNB]The 26-year-old returned to find his replacement Marton Fulop in fine form but the Scotland international finally regained his place for the 2-0 defeat at West Ham at the start of April.[LNB]But after playing in the club's next two games against Manchester United and Hull City the injury curse struck again for the keeper as he waits for a scan to reveal the extent of his knee problem.[LNB]"It's automatic to fear the worst. There might be an operation and we will find out whether that is required," he said.[LNB]"It's a possibility that it is the knee cartilage, but I'm trying to remain positive. It's been the worst season of my career for injuries. [LNB]Back-to-back injuries"I have never had anything like this at any stage. I have hardly missed a game in my career, so to have two lengthy injuries back-to-back is disappointing.[LNB]"When you come to a new club in the first couple of years you want to stamp your authority on things and I have been in and out, which has not been ideal.[LNB]"So let's get this season over and done with, stay in the Premier League and look forward to next season to come back stronger."[LNB]Despite the fact that he does not look likely to play again this season he insists his mind is still firmly focused on the club staying in the top flight.[LNB]"Staying in this division is huge," he told the Journal.[LNB]"For the players, the fans and the club here behind the scenes, there's such a difference in the money side of things if you drop down and that affects what the club will be able to spend.[LNB]"It doesn't bear thinking about what could happen and that's why we have to stay focused on the job in hand."[LNB]
