Fulop welcomes Citizens link

Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop has welcomed speculation linking Manchester City with an emergency loan move for his services.

The 26-year-old Hungary international has been out of the first-team picture with the Black Cats since February and is set to leave the club at the end of the season.

However, he may get an unexpected chance to impress for the Citizens, who hope to be allowed to draft in a new keeper after Shay Given dislocated a shoulder in the goalless draw with Arsenal.

Fulop is pleased with the growing links, but insists that nothing concrete has been agreed just yet.

He told the Sunderland Echo: "I can't confirm officially any approach, because personally I haven't been contacted by anyone.

"But if the news is true then I'd go there happily and I would be hungry to play for Manchester City.

"This is an enormous honour for me that my name has been linked with a club which has such a great history."
