Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop has spoken of his disappointment at seeing a move to Stoke City fall through last week.
The 25-year-old had seemed set to rejoin the Potters after a brief loan spell last season, but instead City signed up Thomas Sorensen, leaving Fulop to head back to the Black Cats for the time being.
He told Nemzeti Sport: "I wanted to go to Stoke, but after the two clubs agreed about me, the talks slowed down.
"I didn't even train with Sunderland in order to avoid an injury and I looked forward to going, but it was useless.
"My agent talked to Stoke officials and we felt that they protracted the deal and they didn't really want to sign me, unlike in the past.
"So I've decided to say no to their offer, not for financial reasons, especially as I could have earned more than at Sunderland.
"I've arrived at a milestone of my career. I'm 25 years old and I have to accept an offer which fits my career and helps my development in every respect."
