Sunderland's Hungarian goalkeeper Marton Fulop has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract which ties him to the Black Cats until the summer of 2012.
The 25-year-old moved to the Stadium of Light in late 2005 from Tottenham Hotspur and has made 27 appearances for the Wearsiders despite often acting as back-up to Craig Gordon.
Manager Ricky Sbragia told the club's official website: "Marton has been excellent and this is reward for him.
"You need two top-class keepers and we think we have got that. They will push each other to higher levels."
Fulop himself added: "I am delighted to sign.
"I am pleased with the progress the club has made and I am delighted that I got my chance in the team. I am happy to commit."
Fulop has been loaned out both Leicester City and Stoke City during his time with Sunderland.
