The Frank Sinatra song, They All Laughed, could well have reverberated around Craven Cottage as Roy Hodgson elaborated on why Bobby Zamora could be an outside bet for a place in England's World Cup squad.

The Fulham manager had not been enjoying a pre-Christmas sherry; he believes there is a case to include players like Zamora in Fabio Capello's final 23.

Hodgson said: 'You could make a case for one or two more unusual selections, players who maybe have something a little bit extra. If you perpetuated that argument, you might come up with an argument for someone like a Bobby Zamora.
