The Welsh goalkeeper has one year left on his current deal at Edgeley Park, but the financial troubles at the club mean he can now leave. Stockport have recently gone into administration and Williams has not had his wages paid for a set period and regulations mean he is free to move. A host of clubs, led by Sunderland and Leeds, had already been gearing up bids to land the 22-year-old. But now he is available on a free transfer the face to sign him is expected to hot up further with his future is expected to be resolved before the end of this month.
