FA suspends Turner for two games
Sunderland have confirmed that Michael Turner will miss the first two games of next season after the FA decided to extend his one-match ban. The 26-year-old was dismissed on the final day of the season in the Black Cats' 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wolves at Molineux on Sunday for a second bookable offence. The Football Association has decided to extend the ban due to the player being sent off against Manchester City earlier in the season, with two red cards in one campaign activating a two-game ban as opposed to the standard one for being shown two yellow cards. Turner, a key member at the heart of manager Steve Bruce's side, served an extended four-match ban in the wake of a failed appeal against his dismissal against City in December. Jack Colback, who also saw red in his first senior appearance for the Wearsiders, will serve a one-match ban.
