Edwards has point to prove

Sunderland winger Carlos Edwards is determined to impress manager Roy Keane following his recall from a loan spell at Wolves.

The 30-year-old Trinidad & Tobago wideman made six appearances while on loan at Molineux after being allowed to join the Championship leaders in a bid to play more first-team football.

Edwards had fallen down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light this season, but is now hoping to gasp the first-team opportunity with both hands.

"Being back is great," he told the club's official website. "Knowing that the manager still has me in his plans is good.

"Sunderland is where I want to be. It was a surprise to get the call to come back.

"I have a point to prove this time round. I know I was lacking in my performances.

"The fans know my capability and the manager knows my capability.

"I think the manager did me a favour sending me on loan. I'm back here and raring to go."
